The Osa Peninsula is a vibrant place but it is not a zoo. Though there are no guarantees as to what you will see, we trust you will leave having had a memorable wildlife experience. La Paloma Lodge offers luxurious simplicity. We do not have air conditioning , but we do have ceiling fans and we enjoy westerly winds of the Pacific ocean. We invite you to visit and enjoy nature at her best...pure and simple.

Please read this before you confirm your reservation. We hope this will help answer any questions you may have concerning your upcoming adventure.
La Paloma is a non smoking hotel.
Travel Arrangements
If you are traveling without an itinerary, try to arrange your next stop before arriving to La Paloma. Since we are somewhat isolated, it is difficult to book your travel plans from the lodge.
Phone
If your loved ones want to contact you, we will be glad to pass messages to the lodge by radio through our office in San Jose. The office number is (506) 2239-0954. We have a cell phone at the lodge (506) 8385-8494, but it is not dependable. Internet is available from the lodge.
Meals
Our menus mostly consist of fresh fish, shrimp, chicken and occasionally beef. Vegetarian meals are available upon request. We serve plenty of fresh fruit at all meals along with homemade bread. Because Drake Bay is a remote area, meals are included with lodging-there are few restaurants nearby.
Hotel
We would like to know where you are staying the night before you depart for La Paloma in case there are any changes. Please leave a phone number where you can be reached.
Flights
Flights normally leave between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30a.m. from San José Tobias Bolaños Airport. Your tickets will be at the Nature Air airline counter. Flights have a 30lb weight limit. Please try to stay within this limit, norm ally they will allow you to bring extra weight but you will be charged for it. If the flight is flying full you may be asked to leave some luggage behind. Most hotels in San Jose have a place to guard your extra luggage. La Paloma is not responsible if the airline is delayed or cancels due to weather.
Diving Equipment
We provide all diving equipment including wet suits and slip-on fins. We also have more rigid strap fins to be used with booties. Our equipment is Sherwood. Water temperature is approximately 83-84 degrees, but sometimes cooler in deeper water, so you may want to bring your own dive "skin." For more information, see the diving page at www.scubacostarica.com
Things to Bring
We recommend light weight clothing, sandals that can get wet, hiking boots
and/or good walking shoes, sunscreen, a flashlight and a hat. Dinner attire
is casual. There are very few biting bugs, however if you are a person who
is bothered by insects you should bring repellent.
Traveler's Insurance
If you are traveling with valuable camera equipment, computers, jewelry etc. we recommend that you consider purchasing traveler's insurance. It will insure against trip cancellations, theft or loss.
Weather
Temperatures on the coast range between 73 and 94 degrees Fahrenheit.
Evening temperatures are usually around 75 degrees. Our driest months are
between December and May. You'll want to bring a rain jacket or poncho for our green season (June-October). |
